At PS 200 we believe that access to the arts is crucial in developing creativity, problem solving, and empathy in our students. With three music teachers, two visual arts teachers and one dance teacher, all students at PS 200 will have at least one arts period, if not three, each instructional cycle. Students will have further opportunities to experience these art forms with instrumental and choral performing groups, art clubs and a dance company.
While 4th and 5th grade students are eligible to participate in the pull-out band ensembles, their instrumental journey begins in Kindergarten on piano!
Students begin the violin program in the 1st grade and continue taking small group violin lessons three times a week through the 5th grade.
Starting in the 3rd grade students may participate in the pull-out chorus. Performing traditionally for the community, the chorus also presents two musicals each year.
PS 200 boasts not only 2 art teachers but an Art Club consisting of 4th and 5th graders. Students begin art in Kindergarten and continue with classes through 5th grade.
Our PS 200 Dance Company is open to grades 4-5 and meets every Wednesday and Thursday after school. Last year's show focused on the origins of hip hop!
